AFL: The next test for ladder-leading Fremantle will come in the form of an injury-hit Port Adelaide, who are without several of their stars.

Superstars Zak Butters, Connor Rozee, Jason Horne-Francis and Mitch Georgiades are all sidelined for the 14th-placed Power, who have been largely competitive in their first season under former Docker Josh Carr.

Meanwhile, Justin Longmuir has resisted the temptation to rest his stars for their trip to Adelaide Oval - save for Shai Bolton, who has been granted a week off to help manage a hand issue.

Serong’s say

Meanwhile, Caleb Serong - who overcame a slow start to win 28 disposals - credited Fremantle’s improved stoppage work as the key to the comeback.

“We knew they were going to bring a lot of pressure and a lot of numbers at the footy, and we didn’t deal with it as well as we would’ve liked,” Serong told Fox Footy.

“You talk about them (stoppages) and then getting them back on your terms is another thing.

“I thought, the start of that third quarter, Luke Jackson really got us going in there. The big fella said at half-time ‘I’ve got this, get ready for it’. He really got going in that third quarter and gave us a lot of energy - that’s what we love. He got the game going our way.”

Jye’s thoughts

Jye Amiss, who slotted four goals, was happy with his side’s performance.

“I think, after half-time, we were able to play our brand of footy,” Amiss told Fox Footy.

“I’m really starting to love the combat, that’s something I’m building into my game.

“That’s what I love about this football club - it’s so unselfish.”

Full-time: Dockers win!

Fremantle were not anywhere near their best, but have done enough to get over a brave Port Adelaide.

The Dockers trailed the Power - who were without Connor Rozee, Jason Horne-Francis, Zak Butters and Mitch Georgiades - by 12 points at the main break, but produced a trademark second-half blitz to win by 28.

Freddy’s second

Michael Frederick has slotted his second goal to ice the cake for Fremantle.

The speedy forward is having an underratedly-strong season.

FRE 15.12 (102) lead PA 11.9 (75)

Power’s hopes quashed

Mitch Zadow very nearly produced a briilliant finish which would have made the finish interesting, only for the goal umpire’s view the ball had clipped the post to be confirmed by a review.

The Dockers would want to have their wits about them in the final few minutes.

Purple cue in the rack

Port Adelaide have had the ball trapped in their inside-50 for much of the last few minutes.

But repeat stoppages suit the Dockers, who look to have put the cue in the rack, just fine.

FRE 14.12 (96) lead PA 11.8 (74)

Jase goes bang

Jase Burgoyne has kicked one of the best goals of the day, getting a snap to work perfectly from the pocket.

Another quick goal for Port Adelaide might make things interesting.

FRE 14.12 (96) lead PA 11.8 (74)

Slowing down

Port Adelaide have looked the better side in the last few minutes without coming up with another goal.

Fremantle are trying to take the sting out of this contest.

FRE 14.11 (95) lead PA 10.8 (68)

Power hit scoreboard

Maybe Port Adelaide won’t go away after all.

Corey Durdin has found space out the back to roll home their first goal of the final quarter.

FRE 14.10 (94) lead PA 10.8 (68)

Dudley shuts the door

Isaiah Dudley has surely shut the door on any Port Adelaide hopes of a comeback, with the South Australian contributing his first goal of the day.

The Dockers have piled on eight goals to the Power’s one in another stunning second half.

FRE 14.10 (94) lead PA 9.8 (62)
