Billionaire Gina Rinehart has put her mothballed Waroona abattoir south of Perth on the market.

Previously called Clover Meats, the beef abattoir and by-products plants, along with 22ha of land in the Peel region, has been listed with Greg Smith, of Elders, who is calling for expressions of interest by December 15.

Ms Rinehart acquired the abattoir as part of a the deal when she bought Liveringa and Nerrima stations, covering 470,000ha in the Kimberley’s Fitzroy Valley.

The deal involved entering into a joint venture with Graham Laitt’s MilneAgri Group in 2014 and 12 months later becoming the sole owner of the two stations and abattoir.

Elders described the abattoir as being “surplus to the owner’s requirements”.

Once one of the biggest meat processing facilities in WA, it has not operated as an abattoir since 2009.

Mr Smith said the facility was fully functional up until the day it ceased operating.

The facility is expected to fetch between $5 million and $10 million.
